From alpine infinity pools and floating wellbeing to equine healing and sunset rituals (dusking, anyone?), Scarlet Spy checks out what’s new this month in the world of spa and wellness.

Horse‑powered healing at NIHI Sumba

With the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse - known for freedom, strength and transformation - equine wellness has well and truly galloped into the arena. Luxury retreat NIHI Sumba, located just a short flight from Bali’s shores on Sumba Island, offers Equine Intuitive Awareness Retreats. Led by resident horse whisperer Carol Sharpe, the five‑day retreat blends equine connection, yoga, spa rituals and ocean rides with the island’s revered Sandalwood horses.

London’s biggest floating wellbeing destination

A bold new vision could see a 12‑hectare stretch of water at London’s Royal Docks transformed into the capital’s largest floating destination. Plans include a floating park, waterside homes and a wellbeing hub with lido-style swimming and sauna experiences - all designed to reconnect Londoners with the water and create a year-round outdoor wellness space in East London.

Dusking: the newest wellness ritual

Astronomical Spring is official here, and it’s all about ‘dusking’ - the simple ritual of stepping outside at sunset to pause as day turns into night. As the light softens, the body naturally begins to wind down, helping support circadian rhythms and calm the nervous system. Just a few quiet minutes watching the sky change colour can make a surprisingly powerful - and completely free - end‑of‑day reset. And one we’re here for.

Sky‑high spa upgrade in the Austrian Alps

Set against the dramatic Radstädter Tauern mountains, Lürzerhof Nature SPA Resort is ready to unveil a major spa expansion, opening in July 2026. The €10m development introduces two new floors, an adults‑only wellness sanctuary and a striking cantilevered infinity pool that appears to float above the Alpine landscape.

Wales’ first floating sauna

Sauna Flô has opened Wales’ first floating sauna at Penarth Marina near Cardiff. Set directly on the water, the contrast therapy experience pairs an electric sauna (crafted in Lithuania) with side-by-side ice baths and panoramic marina views. Sessions start from £20, with private hire available for £100 - offering a year-round Nordic-style reset by the sea.

Zen garden serenity at Seaham Hall

Seaham Hall on the Durham Heritage Coast is expanding its outdoor spa offering with a new tranquil Zen Garden. Spa lovers can expect an infinity hydrotherapy pool surrounded by landscaped gardens and bespoke relaxation beds designed for deep unwinding. The meditative space extends the hotel’s Five Bubble Luxury Serenity Spa, creating a place to slow down and escape life’s madness.

Grown Alchemist expands into body rituals

Luxury skincare brand Grown Alchemist is expanding beyond facials with three new treatments designed for stressed-out bodies. The menu includes Urban De‑Stress, Rejuvenating Massage and Resurfacing Treatment, combining sculpting massage techniques with the brand’s plant‑powered formulas.

Clear‑headed spa breaks at Careys Manor

Sober‑curious spa-goers take note. Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa has launched the Clear Head Club Spa Break, an alcohol‑free escape designed for connection, calm and meaningful downtime. The overnight experience includes spa access, delicious food and mindful moments - mocktails are optional.

Longevity goes high street in London

Longevity has moved onto the high street with the opening of the Biogena Store & Longevity Lab London. The multi‑level wellness destination combines premium micronutrient supplements with biohacking treatments such as red-light therapy, altitude breathing and recovery technologies. Part boutique, part health lab, it’s another sign that preventative longevity culture is going mainstream.

Red carpet skincare from Natura Bissé

Ahead of this year's Oscars, American actress, Abigail Spencer (famous for her roles in Mad Men, Suits and Grey’s Anatomy) turned to luxury brand, Natura Bissé (a Spa Spy favourite) for her red-carpet glow-up. Spencer tried out the new 3D Collagen (R)evolution Facial at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, designed to firm and plump the complexion.
